
About the Scholarship
Hard Work - Benevolence - Determination
The primary purpose of the Jayda Dionne Parker Scholarship Fund is to provide a deserving student of FAMU’s School of Journalism and Graphic Communication with financial assistance for college expenses. The scholarship is available to all students who meet the following requirements regardless of age, race, sex, or sexual orientation.
This is a $2,000 scholarship of which $1000 will be awarded for the Fall semester of 2025. The remaining $1000 will be awarded in December 2025 for the Spring semester of 2026.
Application Requirements
Application Deadline: May 31, 2025
To be considered for the scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year, the applicant must submit:
Completed online application form;
Documentation of acceptance or enrollment in FAMU’s School of Journalism and Graphic Communication;
TWO letters of recommendation submitted by a teacher, counselor, community leader, or other adult who is not a family member using the Reference Submission Form linked below;
An OFFICIAL academic transcript mailed to:

Stone Mountain, GA 30086A 500-word essay (750 words max) which describes how the applicant exemplifies Jayda Dionne Parker’s characteristics of hard work, caring and service to others, and determination to succeed. The essay is a part of the online application and must include:
a statement of a major life, mental, or physical hurdle significant to the applicant that was overcome,
a summary of how the applicant was changed by the experience, and
an assertion of how overcoming adversity influenced the applicant’s plans for the future
